Manufacturing
Heather Mills
Heather Mills was founded in Selkirk in the Scottish borders in 1892 as a tweed weaving mill. Through acquisitions in the early part of the 20th century it became a fully vertically integrated mill taking raw wool through dyeing, spinning and weaving processes to produce tweed cloth for sale particularly in London and the US.
Gibson & Lumgair was a supplier to Langholm Woollen Crafts Ltd, which was the name first used by the retail arm of the Langholm Dyeing & Finishing Company (the predecessor company of EWM), a close link was formed which eventually led to Heather Mills being taken over by EWM in December 1980.
As part of the EWM acquisition of Grampian Woollen Mills Limited in 1993, its subsidiaries Jedburgh Kiltmakers and the rug making plant at James Pringle Weavers of Inverness were transferred to Heather Mills. This group of Scottish woven products made in Selkirk, Jedburgh and Inverness provides EWM retailing with the quality traditional manufactured product that it's customers so enjoy.
